Happy New 2026!
(It’s still January. Yes, the middle of it. But it still counts, right? 🙂)
As this year kicked off in a very hectic way, I realised I really needed to come back to writing. Honestly, I planned to return to my blog last year, but it always ended up at the bottom of my list, and I never quite made it back. For years, I loved doing monthly throwbacks, sharing what I was loving, trying, doing, and creating, and I still enjoy looking back at those posts. Why I stopped, I honestly don’t know. But now feels like the right moment to return to what I once called my digital art journal, a space where I’ll be sharing all the creative bits and pieces I’m working on.
Here are some things regarding my art practice that I’m doing in 2026! 🤗
01. A Place for Unfinished Thoughts
I decided to start an ideas notebook. I love Google Keep, truly, but lately my ideas feel scattered everywhere. I write them in my personal diary, my work planner, junk journal, and collage sketchbooks. No more. I’ve dedicated one notebook just for ideas, and I’m planning to give it a collage cover eventually. For now, it’s simply my ideas notebook, and I want to carry it everywhere with me. If I jot something down in my notes app, I’ll transfer it as soon as possible. I’m also planning to divide it into categories like collage work, social media, experiments, and more.
02. Showing Up, Even When It’s Messy
I’m thinking about doing a 100 days challenge again in February. The last time I completed it was in 2022, and in 2023 I made it to day 73. Last year was about reconnecting with my style, experimenting a lot with materials and formats, and finally letting go of the constant question, “Is this my style?” whenever I tried something new. I realised that everything is my style, simply because I made it. It might be different from the medium I usually use, but it’s still me. I feel like I’m in the right place to start the challenge again and see how I can grow by showing up every day.
03. Making Things Move
I’d love to dive deeper into animating my collages. I’ve been working in CapCut for years, but I’ve never really explored more interesting video angles or edits. I want to push my editing skills further, and this is something I’m genuinely excited about.
04. No Rules, Just Pages
Keeping my collage book as an almost daily practice, with total freedom to put anything and everything into it.
05. Permission to Ruin a Perfect Thing
Finally starting the “Wreck This Journal” by Keri Smith, the book I thrifted in perfect condition at the end of last year and never got the chance to open properly.
I’m feeling so happy and excited about the year ahead. I’m planning more collage workshops, picnic craft get togethers, postcard design, fashion collage illustrations, moodboards, in person creating and connecting, supporting my creative friends, and playing with fashion and inspiration.
What creative or crafty things are you looking forward to in 2026? I’d love to know!
